So you are considering becoming a member? You should - it is really easy.
If you are already an experienced kayaker, just make contact with us and we will let you know when to turn up on a Club Night. If you do not have the L2 Skills award, we can help you get that done.
If you are new to kayaking, you need to attend a Beginners Course. These are available from May to August each year. Courses are based in Doorly Park on Lough Gill (down from the Sports Complex). Anyone interested can call Eddie on (086) 192 2424 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
So why not come and join a very social Club. No experience is required, just an ability to swim, and to smile as you get wet! We generally have more adult members that Junior, but welcome all ages 12 years and older, and encourage families to get involved. A wetsuit is recommended, but swimmers and a tee shirt is fine, all other gear is provided. Cost is €120 per person, which covers all the lessons, Canoeing Ireland Level 2 assessment, gear rental for the duration of the course and club membership for one year.
After that you can come out on our Club Paddle sessions and it is just €5 a session for gear hire. It’s a fun and cheap sport! We paddle all through the winter too in the lakes and rivers, and we learn new kayaking skills in the Regional swimming pool through until the Spring.
You can read the Sligo Kayak Club Operational Document ( PDF ) , this will give you an overview of the operation of the club.
Secondly please read our Membership Manual ( PDF), it is packed full of important information about joining our club.
Simply fill out the Membership Form ( Word Doc ) and bring it with payment to your first session, or drop them off as requested by Eddie.
Please note: All forms must be signed and submitted, to take part in club activities.
See our Facebook page for dates of the next course:
